For more than 30 years, Dr. R. Bertram Williams Jr. invited friends and neighbors to partake in the annual sweet corn harvest on his farm. His son, Bert Williams, continued the tradition this year and I had the honor of photographing the event. I showed up to this shoot not knowing what to expect, but the weather was perfect and the experience was unforgettable. The family, friends, and neighbors who showed up early to pick corn were warm, welcoming, and hardworking. Some 8,000 ears of corn were picked in just a couple hours. I worked slipping in and out of the rows of corn looking for images that could describe this moment, this experience, and this community. 5 of my favorite images from the editorial are below!
